The journey of the Department of Mathematics, Khatra Adibasi Mahavidyalaya, was started in the year 2008 by introducing General course in Mathematics under the affiliation of The University of Burdwan.

Later, in 2012, Mathematics Honours course was started under the same university. The intake capacity at that time was granted as 17.

Recently, in 2017, the department have been started Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for Mathematics Honours and Programme courses under the affiliation of Bankura University. The intake capacity was granted as 23.

At that time, 2^nd and 3^rd year students of Mathematics honours course were studying under the syllabus of Burdwan University in annual system, where as 1^st year students were studying in semester system following the  syllabus prescribed by the Bankura University.

At present, Bankura University and as well as our college is following the NEP 2020 curriculum for the last two Academic Years. Our intake capacity is now 40.

The Mathematics Department has two full time faculties and two SACTs who are accessible to the students anytime during the college working hours. Special attention is paid to weaker students from under-privileged background. A continuous counselling of students on academics, career and personal related matters are being done. Departmental teachers are also providing the mentorship to the students to ease their journey and facilitate their study related issues.

The Department boasts of a healthy student teacher relationship, with teachers being always accessible to students, and students reciprocating the attention by spontaneous love and respect.
